The two most common reasons people ask for these dogs is because they are generally non-shedding and have an excellent temperament. Of course, this temperament can't be 100% predictable, depending on any number of variables such as the type of environment they were raised in, the breeding stock, etc.

But it can have a highly predictable temperament if the right sire and dam are bred together. The intention of the Labradoodle, was to have a dog with the temperament of a service dog, like a Lab or a Golden with the non-shedding coat of a Poodle.
